Tim Meyer is the founder and Prinicipal Consultant of Connect5. He is a technology leader with 20+ years of professional experience in mobile and M2M systems. He is an expert in discovering new markets and formulating profitable business models by leveraging broad technology and business experience.
Tim’s career spans large technology companies Analog Devices and Ericsson as well as a series of startups. As CEO of Crisp Wireless, he pioneered mobile multimedia applications for Nokia, Motorola and AT&T. Prior to that Tim was the co-founder of room33, the first carrier independent WAP portal based in Stockholm, Sweden. While at Ericsson, Tim’s notable achievement was developing the first wireless, push email system jointly with Research in Motion and RadioMail. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and has attended the Cleantech Executive Program at NYU-Poly. He is the author of provisional patents in the field of electric car fast charging, turbine noise suppression and a car charging identification system. |
Steve McCrudden

Steve McCrudden has been active in mobile and wireless since the late 1980s. He is currently Partner at Connect5, a wireless consultancy.
He was Solutions Architect, Application Innovation for Advanced Communications Services with Alcatel-Lucent. He is former CTO for Location Services, Geographic Messaging and Open API Services at Alcatel-Lucent. He previously founded 3rd Dimension, Inc., a digital media and advertising company delivering video content to mobile phones to markets across the country. He worked for Motorola on the Broadband Data Initiative, where he was the solutions architect of the Motorola bid to deploy a $.5B 340 square-mile public safety wide-area WiFi network [NYCWIN] in New York, a 2 ½ year effort. McCrudden was a founding employee of Omnipoint Communications, the GSM/UMTS network operator. He joined Omnipoint shortly after Omnipoint won the Pioneer’s Preference PCS license for the New York City market. There he held a number of positions, including Director of Business Development, Multimedia Services, and Director Product Management. He led the implementation and deployment of GPRS data services. Omnipoint started with $25M and covered 98 million licensed pops before being bought by DT for $4.9B and merged with Voicestream to become T-Mobile US. Mr. McCrudden was also with Nynex Mobile Communications, where he established the Wireless Data business unit and deployed the CDPD network in NYC and Boston. Nynex merged with Bell Atlantic to become Verizon Communications. McCrudden has been active in committees and standards groups in the GSM Association, working in areas including location, data services, terminals, and Smart Cards. As former secretary of the GSM Alliance Data & Services working group, he represented both the GSM Alliance and Omnipoint at the Wireless Data Forum, now part of CTIA. McCrudden is on the advisory boards of a number of companies, including Known Presence and XYverify. |
Nasir Sheikh

Nasir Sheikh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Technology and Society, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at State University of New York, Korea. He is teaching courses such as strategic marketing, technology assessment, quality management, decision making methods, and business process management. His research interests include technological innovation and commercialization, technology assessment, decision modeling, and analytics. Recently, he was awarded the Faculty Teaching Award for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching in the Department of Technology and Society.
Nasir Sheikh has thirty years of industry experience in building global communications and IT businesses as an executive in technology management, sales, and marketing. He has served in business leadership roles at Atlas Telecom, UshaComm, CenterSpan Communications, and ACD Systems. Prior to that Dr. Sheikh had technology management and operational roles at AT&T Labs, NorTel, Philips Electronics, and Schlumberger. In the last ten years he has been engaged in management consulting on next-generation renewal energy and healthcare technologies. Simultaneously, he was an adjunct professor for teaching courses in international business and marketing and a teaching assistant for courses such as new product development, total quality management, project management tools, science and technology policy, competitive strategies in technology management, strategic planning in engineering management, and intrapreneurship. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Technology Management from Portland State University, an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Middle East Technical University. |
